When people talk about poker cheat devices they generally mean a set of technical gambling cheating tools, such as marked cards, infrared contact lenses, poker scanning cameras, etc. All of these items can be used to win more money in different games. However, the poker analyzer is the most important. This is a special phone that scans the barcode marked cards and instantly tells you the winning hand via an invisible earpiece. It works great in Texas Holdem and Omaha, but can also work well for other card games like Rhonda and Blackjack.
The device is designed to look like a normal phone, and it even has popular apps. But its gimmick lies in the fact that it comes with a poker-scanning camera that can scan barcodes on decks, and send the data to a device analyzer. The device then tells the user what to do next.
While the analyzer can tell a player who to call or raise against, some cheats choose to go a step further. They will “muck”, or shuffle, a card in their hand, so that they can change the top, bottom or other position of the card when dealing to benefit their hand or hurt their opponent’s. This method is called “seconds dealing” and can be performed alone or with a confederate.
Although many of these techniques are detectable by a skilled player the high-end devices do exist and constitute a lucrative, organized black market. Bursztein claims that anonymous sources have told him that such devices are used in Las Vegas casinos. Bursztein suggests modifying the casino-floor camera to be sensitive enough to infrared.
